Promoting Your MLM Company First Will Lead to Failure

Most network marketing companies recommend that their reps promote their business opportunity. They suggest that the reps send their prospects to a company-designed replicated website. This website is all about the company, the business opportunity, and its products or services.
I Feel That This “Promoting the Company First” Approach is One of the Major Reasons Why So Many People Fail in Network Marketing
The main reason for this is that the prospect doesn’t know anything about you – the network marketer. There are so many network marketing opportunities out there that it is difficult to determine which ones are good and reputable and which ones are not.
If you don’t have a previous relationship with your prospect when you call them, they don’t know if they can trust what you are telling them. They don’t know if you are telling them the truth about yourself and the company you are promoting.
If they have some concerns (real or imagined) about your company, they have no reason to proceed. There is no connection between you and the prospect.
Don’t get me wrong. There are some networkers who are very good at this. But most people are not.
How does your prospect view you if you are only promoting your company? Most likely, they see you as a glorified sales rep, just like almost every other network marketer out there.
They don’t see you as a professional, independent marketer. They don’t see you as a leader and as someone who can truly help them.
Here’s something to keep in mind. The prospect is not looking just for a company. Your prospect is looking for someone who can lead them and help them achieve their dreams. If you are only promoting your company, they don’t know if you are that person.
If the prospect has no strong interest in your company, most likely you have lost your prospect forever.
Let’s say that your prospects like what they see and have a genuine interest in your company. Why should they work with you?
For the most part, it’s probably too late to start convincing them on how wonderful you are. Again, why should they believe you? They don’t know you or trust you. You can be taught to have a positive mindset and to follow a professional script. But this doesn’t seem to work for most people.
In many cases, the prospect may look for other representatives in your company who are obviously successful and sign up under them. After all, they have no strong relationship with you, no real reason to do business with you.
So what I am saying here is that you should not start out the relationship with your prospect by promoting your network marketing opportunity.
Here is My Advice – Promote Yourself First
What if your marketing approach was to provide online educational information to your target market? What if you provided answers to the questions your target market had? What if you started out your relationship with your prospect by not promoting your MLM business or any other promotional program?
This is Called Internet Attraction Marketing
Top network marketers are beginning to use this marketing concept. They see the benefit of providing value and attracting the prospect to them.
You are promoting yourself as a leader; as an expert; as a person who has the answer to the questions your prospect is looking for. You are positioning yourself as a person who can lead your prospects and help them achieve their dreams.
Not only that. By helping them and by not promoting your business, you are showing your prospect that you have a genuine interest in them and are not going immediately for their money.
Your entire marketing approach should be based upon helping your prospect. By doing that, you are building a strong relationship with your prospect – a feeling of trust and respect.
After a while, you can start offering affiliate products. These are products that provide true value to them. It also provides cash flow to your business.
Your prospect sees the value of these products which continues to build your relationship with them.
Most likely, your prospect will eventually come to you asking about your business opportunity. Sometimes they will join your business without even talking with you.
This is the marketing approach I recommend. Internet attraction marketing is all about promoting yourself and not your company.
